A clod is washed away

… if a clod is washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less …

Thus wrote John Donne in his Meditation 17 (‘No man is an island entire of itself’), nearly 400 years ago.  How prescient he was.

Today at 11pm that clod is washed away.  Europe may be the less—but we are even more so.  What a clod we are!
